This is My Body

This is My Body
Theology in the Trenches
by Kathleen Kjolhaug

I’d heard the words spoken upon the radio on an earlier broadcast. Today’s repeat programming had me once again quite taken by them and this time, I jotted them down. “Jesus said, ‘This is My body given for you.’ The world flips it on its head and says, ‘This is your body, taken by me.’”

Theology of the Body and Humanae Vitae whisper truth. Call it respect. Call it nature versus nurture…I only know that we have one…a body that is…and we need to take care of it.

We need to take care of not only ours, but we need to take care of the body of others entrusted to us. It is a holy calling to fully grasp the understanding that the body houses the Holy Spirit. It’s a temple if you will…and it does not belong to us. So our rights, my rights, your rights, the rights of the born, the unborn, you name it…all belong to Him…as does the body of Christ.

Truth is…it is the truth, and He says it plain like.

“Truly, truly I say unto you,” is what He says in His Word…in ways everlasting.

“Truly, Truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes Him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment but has passed from death to life” (John 5:24).

“Truly, truly, I say to you, an hour is coming, and is now here, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and those who hear will live” (John 5:25).

“Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies it remains alone but if it dies it will bear much fruit” (John 12:24).

“Truly, truly, I say to you that you will weep and lament and the world will rejoice. You will grieve but your grief will turn into joy (John 16:20).

“Truly, truly, I say to you, that He who believes in me and the work that I do, He will do also, and greater works than these will he do (John 14:12).

“Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God” (John 3:3).

“Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself unless it is something He sees the Father doing; for whatever the Father does, these things the Son also does in like manner” (John 5:19).

“Truly, truly, I say to you, you seek Me, not because you saw signs but because you ate of the loaves and were filled” (John 6:26).

“Truly, truly, I say to you, it is not Moses who has given you the bread out of heaven, but it is My Father who gives you the true bread out of heaven” (John 6:32).

“Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in yourselves” (John 6:53).

“Truly, truly, I say to you, he who receives whomever I send receives Me; and he who receives Me receives Him who sent Me” (John 13:20).

Truly, truly…this is true just as it is written in Luke 22:19.  “This is my body, given for you; do this in remembrance of me.” Amen.
